Svnthesis in Vitro of Steroids bv Human Fetal

چکیده
Presumptive evidence for the production of steroids by the human fetal adrenal gland has accumulated during recent years. The studies involved mostly analysis of fetal adrenal tissue (14) or umbilical cord blood (5-8) for steroid content, the results of which did not unequivocally establish steroid synthesis by the fetal adrenal cortex. Lanman and Silverman (9) demonstrated the conversion of progesterone to corticoids by neonatal adrenal slices. With one exception (I), the several studies were carried out on fetuses during the last trimester of gestation or at term, a period of variable change in the morphology of the fetal adrenal. The human fetal adrenal cortex is distinguished by the presence of two histologically distinct zones; the definitive (adult) cortex and the fetal zone. The latter comprises about 80 per cent of the total adrenal volume during most of pregnancy (10). Whereas the adult cortex transiently diminishes in size at birth, the fetal zone degenerates rapidly beginning after birth. The separate capacities of these two tissues for steroid production have not been studied. This report describes the isolation and characterization of several steroids from incubations of human fetal adrenal slices with sodium 1-CY4-acetate, and the capacity of both the adult cortex and fetal zone to produce steroids.

Cytotoxic and Pro-Apoptotic Effects of Honey Bee Venom and Chrysin on Human Ovarian Cancer Cells
Background: The anti-cancer effects of honey bee venom (BV) and chrysin might open a new window for treatment of chemo-resistant cancers. This study was designed to evaluate cytotoxic and pro-apoptotic effects of BV and chrysin on A2780cp cistplatin- resistant human ovarian cancer cells. Methods: As per the study objectives, A2780cp cells were categorized to 4 groups: 3 experiment groups (treat...
متن کاملImmunomodulatory Effects of Bee Venom in Human Synovial Fibroblast Cell Line
As in Iranian traditional medicine, bee venom (BV) is a promising treatment for the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) which is considered as a problematic human chronic inflammatory disease in the present time. Smoking is considered to be a major risk factor in RA onset and severity. The main aim of this study is to investigate the effects of BV on cigarette smoke-induced inflammatory response in fibro...

متن کاملExpansion of Non-Enriched Cord Blood Stem/Progenitor Cells CD34+ CD38- Using Liver Cells
Many investigators have used xenogeneic, especially murine stromal cells and fetal calf serum to maintain and expand human stem cells. The proliferation and expansion of human hematopoietic stem cells in ex vivo culture were examined with the goal of generating a suitable protocol for expanding hematopoietic stem cells for patient transplantation. Using primary fetal liver cells, we established...
متن کاملA Fetal Hemolytic Anemia in a Child with Cytomegalovirus Infection
Background Autoimmune hemolytic anemia is a hematologic disorder that is rarely observed in infants and young children. Most of the cases are associated with viral or bacterial infections. In some cases, AIHA can be characterized by a chronic course and an unsatisfactory control of hemolysis, thus requiring prolonged immunosuppressive therapy. Case report Especially in children younger...
